CURRICULUM VITAE

JJ Hermes
I am an assistant professor in the Department of Astronomy at Boston University, focused on high-precision observations of the endpoints of stars, planets, and binary systems.

Please visit the BU White Dwarf group page for more information on my group and research interests.

Before moving to Boston in 2019, I was a Hubble Fellow at UNC Chapel Hill, an ERC postdoctoral fellow at the University of Warwick in central England, and completed a Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin. I have also worked as a journalist, serving as editor-in-chief of The Daily Texan in 2007 and as a reporter for The Chronicle of Higher Education in Washington, D.C.
